Vipiemme Spa has been present in Italy in the lead accumulators industry since 1980. The company started its activities with the purpose of manufacturing and retailing lead accumulators for both light and heavy goods vehicles. After an initial phase of assembling and retailing, fuelled by the enthusiasm and appreciation shown by the targeted market, Vipiemme has opted for a new company policy whose purpose is: - a total integration from the top of the manufacturing cycle aimed at developing internally the whole process of transformation of the raw materials; - safely guarantee good quality standards for the whole manufacturing process - increase the production reliably. The adopted policy, supported by a substantial financial commitment, proves rewarding to the company, and in a short time has, with its products, acquired and consolidated an excellent market position countrywide. In 1994 the construction of the new production premises started: at present the whole premises expand over a surface of 12.000 square meters, built within an area of more than 60.000 square meters just in front of the original site. In 1996 the company legal status turned from a limited company to a share-based structure, and in the second half of 1997 the whole company moved to the new production complex. The production, a year later, as a result of employing all productive lines, has become fixed at around 700,000 batteries. The philosophy which inspires the management, focused on guaranteeing the highest possible quality, takes the company to a further financial effort, to ensure the technological production standards are of the state-of-the-art to fulfil the requirements of the market. The production of the expanded lead-calcium grid thus started with the appropriate modifications being implemented across the whole production lines. That was not the end though: Vipiemme has also become a strategic pole for experimenting and researching by the manufacturers of production lines, who install and test at our premises new machinery and technology. "The technological innovation is constant, involving many of the financial resources of our company, but in order to absolutely guarantee the highest quality of the product across the whole production cycle it is necessary to continue investing funds and research new solutions revolving around manufacturing accumulators" declares Mr. Alfredo Volpi, the company's Managing Director. Vipiemme has two internal laboratories, a chemical and an electrical one, totally self sufficient to carry out all the intermediate quality tests during the production cycle. Faithful to their commitment to innovation and technology, Vipiemme is among the first companies introducing in 2001 the laminated strip technology within the production cycle. The company is currently changing its organizational structure an expansion from a small size company to a medium-large size one (now in settlement phase), with great ambitions of further expansion in the management structure. The production is currently reaching about 1,000,000 batteries per year, which find their place in the spare parts market not just in Italy but also abroad. Vipiemme has, through the years, found excellent European partners who deal with the distribution of their products in almost all European countries. In fact Vipiemme products are currently available through outlets in Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, France, Greece, Slovenia, Russia... This year as well Vipiemme has been successful in the examination to achieve the certification of their quality tests process, according to the norm UNI EN ISO 9001:2000, as well as the UNI EN AVSQ 94 certification which incorporates the previous one with a system employed by the Association of Electronic Components Manufacturers and Car Manufacturers to evaluate their suppliers. The turnover achieved in 2003 was around 20,000,000 Euros obtained almost exclusively through the engine start division. The full implementation of the production equipment with the capacity of up to 4 lines to a total of 1,500,000 batteries has not been completed yet, as the core of the business is shifting towards new strategic business areas. Since 2002, in fact, all efforts of the company have been involved in the traction and semi-stationary divisions, with the introduction of new products to conquer new strategic niches in the market. |
