ASA was born in Sesto S.Giovanni, near Milan, in 1937 as leading manufacturer of Appliances for Autogenous Welding - in Italian being "ASA" the acronym of such wording.
The wide knowledge of chemical and pharmaceutical fields allowed ASA to be the first Italian producer and distributor of glass tube variable area flowmeters (1947) for gases and liquids, then called ASAMETRI® (Registered Trade Mark, recognized worldwide).
In 1960 ASA production range was enlarged with the introduction of metallic tube flowmeters provided with either pneumatic or electronic transmitter.
ASA, moreover, can boast the exposal of its ASAMETRI at the National Museum of Science and Technics in Milan (1982) and it was proud to give the GISI Show Room, close to the main inventors and scientists' projects and appliances, a pneumatic flow transmitter together with a differential flow regulator as witnessing of Italian pioneer technics in the production of accurate instruments for fluids flow measures.

The increasing market demand and a dynamic contracting spirit made ASA be a growing reality, so that in 1983 the whole factory moved from Sesto S. Giovanni to Grumello del Monte, 60 km far away from Milan in Bergamo district.
Sales and Administration offices are still located in Sesto S.Giovanni in a modern and comfortable building close to the main infrastructures (motorway, railway and underground which allow getting easily to Milan City centre).

The broad experience in fluids treatment and the wide knowledge of technics and instruments design made it possible to enlarge, once again, the production programme.
Along with the "classic" ASAMETRI, ASA started manufacturing and selling with good success and immediate outlet on the market its electromagnetic inductive flowmeters equipped with microprocessor converter.
In order to grant an increasing quality standard, ASA owns a considerable calibration plant, known as bidirectional meter prover, which operating on process calibration's bidirectionality practically deletes any measurement error, so as to assure 0.02% accuracy and repeatability degree.

The wish to meet any new market demand leads the Company to implement again its production structure: from 1995 to 1997 the factory was subject to enlargement works aimed at reaching a manufacturing plant whose covered surface was doubled.
According to a policy of continuous growth, new manufacturing automatic and semiautomatic plants were and are still being introduced, as well as the most updated systems of Total Quality Process Controls.
