Born in Bagnara Calabra in 1946, Antonio Rando lives and works in Bergamo. Trained in his father's and grandfather's arts workshop, he gained a diploma in art,specializing in precious metals, from the Messina State Institute of Art and then went on to study sculpture at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Alongside his large sculptures, he produces small sculptural models that become brooches ... rings ... bangles ... and watches, crafted according to the time-honoured lost wax technique. These are unique, or rather multiples of unique jewels, since no two jewels are the same, differing as they do in small and intricate details. Antonio Rando thus unites two apparently distant worlds: jewelry and sculpture, and people are drawn to his jewels not because they and are fashionable, but because they are works of art, which never go out of fashion.
